A small amount of heavy fuel oil has leaked from the stranded bulk carrier ship ‘OS35,’ which collided with another ship near the Bay of Gibraltar on Monday. The cargo ship was beached to prevent it from sinking in the Bay of Gibraltar. It was carrying 215 tons of heavy fuel oil, 250 tons of diesel fuel, and 27 tons of lube oil. Two vessels from Gibraltar Port Authority and Spanish Maritime Rescue are collecting the oil.
The leak is “fully under control,” according to the Captain of the Gibraltar Port. All 30 people on board were evacuated, including 24 crew members.
