Fumio Kishida to become next prime minister of Japan

In Japan, Fumio Kishida won the presidential election of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Kishida is expected to take over as the country’s new prime minister at a parliamentary session in the coming days. He is to succeed Yoshihide Suga as prime minister, Japan’s third since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
