In Bolu’s Mengen district, negligence regarding garbage disposal has led to a significant environmental hazard. The old garbage dump area, neglected for years, resurfaced after two floods, causing garbage and soil to mix into the Mengen stream, which connects to the Filyos stream. The Mengen Municipality’s previous garbage dump area, adjacent to the Mengen Stream, was washed away into the water, creating a new dumping ground. Despite efforts to cover the remaining waste with soil, recent floods exposed the garbage heaps, posing a threat to the local environment.
