The second and last day of the hearing of the case filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice on the grounds that Israel violated the Genocide Convention ended with Israel completing its defense. During the 3-hour hearing in The Hague, Netherlands, Israel defended that the genocide accusations were “grossly distorted because the civilian deaths were not intentional and that they did their best to prevent civilians from being harmed. The Israeli side also claimed that the UN court did not have the authority to stop Israel’s military operations in Gaza within the framework of the Genocide Convention.
