Voting for the Thai general elections started at 08:00 local time today. A total of 52 million voters are expected to head to the polls to elect a new Thai Prime Minister and new 500-seat House of Representatives members for the next four years. Voting will end at 17:00. Election Commission Chairman Ittiporn Boonpracong stated that the turnout at the ballot boxes across the country has been intense since the morning hours. The unofficial election results in Thailand are expected to be announced by 22:00.
