German lawmakers have authorized the acquisition of Israel’s Arrow 3 air defense system. The deal, costing approximately 4 billion euros, includes an advance payment of 560 million euros. Germany will also procure 6 German-made Iris-T SLM air defense systems for around 950 million euros. Funding for this purchase stems from Prime Minister Olaf Scholz’s 100 billion euro defense fund, established in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Delivery of the Arrow 3 system is expected in Q4 2025.
Developed by Israel’s IAI, the Arrow 3 system can intercept ballistic missiles up to 2,400 kilometers away.
