Germany’s Merz Says Iran Regime Near Collapse

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said during a visit to India that the Iranian leadership is nearing its end amid ongoing protests in Iran. “If a regime can only remain in power through violence, it has effectively come to an end,” Merz said, adding that Iran is facing its “final days and weeks.” He noted that Germany is in contact with the United States and European partners to support a peaceful transition to a democratically legitimate government.
