Giant Pandas Ruyi and Ding Ding Thrive in Moscow Zoo

The male giant panda named “Ruyi” and the female giant panda named “Ding Ding” have been residing in the Moscow Zoo for over four years. With the dedicated care of the zookeepers, these two adorable pandas have thrived and their weight has significantly increased, making them even rounder and cuter.

In accordance with the agreement between China and Russia, “Ruyi” and “Ding Ding” arrived in Moscow on April 29, 2019, commencing their 15-year sojourn at the zoo. According to the information provided by the zoo, “Ruyi” has grown from 96 kg to approximately 136 kg over the past four years, while “Ding Ding” has increased from 56 kg to about 116 kg, maintaining good health.

“The bamboo is spread across their activity area, allowing them to engage in natural foraging habits. Additionally, the zoo offers bamboo shoots, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, and specially baked panda cakes made from rice, corn, and soybeans. On special occasions, extra feasts are prepared to delight the pandas,” Irina Ovchinnikova, the head of the China Animal Department at the Moscow Zoo said.
