The “Göbeklitepe: The Enigma of a Sacred Place” exhibition at Rome’s Colosseum welcomed over 6 million visitors in six months. The exhibition, which closes on April 21, showcased the 12,000-year-old archaeological site in Türkiye’s Şanlıurfa province.
At the closing ceremony, Turkish Culture Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy emphasized Göbeklitepe’s global significance, calling it a bridge between past and future. He noted that the exhibition is part of a broader initiative to promote Neolithic sites in Türkiye, including the “Stone Hills” project and the World Neolithic Congress held in Şanlıurfa.
Ersoy also announced future cultural collaborations with Italy, including Turkish contributions to the upcoming “Magna Mater” exhibition and plans for a Troy-themed event in Rome.
