The forest fire in Sofulu, Greece’s Evros region, has not yet been put out. According to Yiannis Artopios, a spokesman for the Greek Fire Brigade, the team of 320 firefighters and 68 fire trucks, as well as a large number of volunteer firefighters, 6 firefighting helicopters, and 9 helicopters, worked nonstop to extinguish the fire.
In another big fire, farm and woodland burned in Akritochori. Stating that 61 firefighters, 5 land crews, 14 vehicles, 4 planes and 2 helicopters were fighting the flames in the region, Artopios said that 50 firefighters, 17 fire trucks, 2 land crews and a helicopter, as well as local government forces and volunteers, contributed to the fire that broke out in Lesbos on Saturday.
