Greek Workers Strike Over Low Wages

Thousands of workers protested in Athens during a 24-hour nationwide strike demanding higher wages to counter rising living costs.

Transport services, including ferries and flights, were disrupted as Greece’s largest unions mobilized. Demonstrators gathered outside parliament, calling for wage hikes and solutions to the housing crisis. Communist Party leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas criticized economic policies favoring the elite, while civil servant Nikos Bosinakos urged fair pay for a dignified life.

Lavrov Signals New Round of Russia-Ukraine Talks

Speaking at the 13th Meeting of High Security Officials in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that a new round of direct negotiations with Ukraine will be announced shortly. He recalled that Istanbul hosted the first round on May 16 and said Russia will continue to demand the repeal of laws in Ukraine that restrict the Russian language, culture, and the Russian-linked Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Lavrov reiterated that Ukraine’s neutral status remains a key demand in peace efforts.
