Guatemala’s Fuego Volcano Erupts, Hundreds Evacuated

The Fuego Volcano in Guatemala has erupted, forcing the evacuation of at least 300 families, with 30,000 more at risk. The eruption, which began Sunday night, sent lava and ash clouds into the air, prompting authorities to close roads and suspend school activities in affected areas.

Located about 50 kilometers southwest of Guatemala City, Fuego is one of the world’s most active volcanoes. While no casualties have been reported, officials are monitoring the situation closely. The volcano’s last major eruption in 2018 killed 215 people.
