Following the statement of opposition group Hayʼat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which is clashing with the forces affiliated with the Bashar Assad regime in Syria, saying that they had advanced to the center of Hama, the Syrian army reported that there had been intense clashes in the last hours and many of their soldiers had been killed.

“Despite suffering heavy losses, the terrorist groups managed to enter the city. The military units stationed here were redeployed outside Hama to protect the lives of civilians and not involve them in the clashes,” added the army.

“The prisoners in the Hama central prison have been released. The Syrian people are experiencing a historic moment with the liberation of these prisons, where their children have been suffering from injustice and tyranny for 50 years. We reiterate our call on the criminal regime forces in all military units in the city of Hama to surrender before it is too late,” said HTS commander Hasan Abdul Ghany on social media.

Trump Calls Attacks on White Farmers in South Africa ‘Genocide’

During a White House meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, former US President Donald Trump described violence against white farmers in South Africa as “genocide” and showed video footage to support his claims. “If this is genocide, we need to take these people into our country,” Trump said, also referencing Elon Musk’s South African origins.

Ramaphosa rejected the accusation, saying, “What you see in those videos is not our government’s policy.” He defended land reforms as constitutional and aimed at correcting apartheid-era inequalities. “The victims of crime in South Africa are not only white, but mostly black,” he added.

Trump also discussed the Russia-Ukraine war, urging peace and noting heavy losses on both sides. He thanked Ramaphosa for inviting him to the G20 summit in South Africa, saying the event would be incomplete without US participation.
