Heavy rains in Kosovo have caused flooding in central streets, particularly in the Peja, Skenderaj, Mitrovica, and Podujeva. As a result, homes and workplaces have been flooded and at least 100 people have been evacuated to safe areas by the Kosovo Security Force. The Kosovo Meteorology Unit has warned that the rains will continue for a few more days. The government has taken precautions and intervened in the situation.
Andriy Portnov, former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in Madrid’s upscale Pozuelo de Alarcon district. Spanish authorities say unidentified gunmen opened fire as the 52-year-old was dropping off his children at school, striking him in the back and head before fleeing.
Portnov, a former MP and lawyer, fled Ukraine with Yanukovych in 2014, briefly returned in 2019, and was later sanctioned by the U.S. for alleged judicial corruption.
