Following heavy rains in Pakistan’s Punjab province, 40 villages were inundated by the flooding of the Cenap River. A timely evacuation prevented loss of life. The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has placed district governments of Okara, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, and Wazirabad on red alert for potential flooding, and precautions are in place near the Cenap River.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning that monsoon rains are expected in the upper and middle parts of the country until July 17.
