Last night’s heavy snowfall wreaked havoc in various parts of Japan, impacting daily life. Stranded vehicles lined the Meishin Expressway, causing a 5-kilometer traffic jam between Osaka and Nagoya provinces. Shiga, Kyoto, and Hyogo states experienced road transportation disruptions due to the snowfall. In Niigata state, a truck-bus collision on the Kan-Etsu Highway resulted in 10 injuries. The snow also led to flight cancellations, with at least 13 flights disrupted between Wakkanai and Toyama airports. Japan Railways (JR) reported numerous cancellations of limited express trains and temporary suspensions of some high-speed train services.
