The historical Roman-made bridge, The Tegre, in the Arıcak district of the Elazığ province in Türkiye, estimated to have been built between the 14th and 15th centuries and serving as an important means of transportation on the Silk Road, awaits reconstruction after being destroyed by a flood. A renovation project for the bridge, which currently only has its foundations remaining, was prepared last year and will soon be put out to tender. Once renovated, The Tegre will be open to tourists.
“According to a rumor, its superstructure was destroyed due to a flood 700 years ago,” said Üçocak Town Mayor Yılmaz Yegül.
