Hundreds of migrating songbirds crashed into the 417-meter-high World Trade Center towers in New York, USA. The nonprofit conversation organization NYC Audubon society co-director Kaitlyn Parkins said that bird deaths were particularly high this week, but bird strikes on skyscrapers in Manhattan are an ongoing problem that Audubon has documented for years. Parkins said that the birds were disoriented due to the lights reflecting off the skyscrapers and they crashed into the buildings due to the bad weather. Ritamary McMahon, one of the Audubon executives, said 30 birds had recovered and were released at Prospect Park in Brooklyn.

The IDF said the group included senior figures directing Hamas operations for years and vowed to continue efforts to “defeat the organization.”
The strike came hours after Israel accepted a US-backed Gaza ceasefire proposal and days after an Israeli commander threatened Hamas leaders abroad. Hamas sources said the delegation was discussing the plan when attacked. According to local sources Hamas’ Gaza leader Khalil al-Hayya survived.
