Hurricane Beryl, which caused great destruction and loss of life on the American continent, reached the US state of Texas today. Authorities warned the public that the hurricane could cause deaths and declared 120 regions a disaster area. While major oil ports around the cities of Corpus Christi, Galveston and Houston in the south of the state were closed, oil companies such as Shell and Chevron evacuated their personnel in the production area off the Gulf of Mexico.
Hurricane Beryl has caused the deaths of a total of 11 people so far.
