Having emerged in the Atlantic Ocean, Hurricane Fiona reached eastern coasts of Canada after hitting Caribbeans as a level 4 hurricane. The hurricane has caused power outages for more than 500 households in Canada by now. Authorities issued evacuation warnings for the Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island residents, living in the coastal areas, against the severe waves and floodings. The biggest airway companies, Air Canada and WestJet Airlines, suspended their flights since the last Friday evening. Nova Scotia, the region that was damaged the most, struggled with critical power outages and damages to trees and building roofs.

Justin Trudeau postponed his travel to Japan for attending the former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s funeral for supporting Canada’s emergency response. The hurricane is described as an historical nature event for Canada.
