The number of people who died in southern Mexico due to Hurricane Otis, which made landfall on Wednesday, has reached 48. Meanwhile, the number of missing people has risen to 36. Mexican officials have successfully rescued 340 people.
The early damage estimate by the Mexican government states that 220,035 residences have been affected by the storm, and 80% of the hotels in the region suffered damage.
