In Azerbaijan, the people showed their support for Türkiye after the earthquakes by mobilizing and contributing to aid efforts. One such person is Server Beşirli, who was seen carrying quilts on his vehicle in Baku, the capital city. Server, who comes from the Lachin province of Karabakh, spoke to reporters about his efforts to help. He shared that he knows all too well the struggles of being homeless in the cold winter, as his grandmother experienced it while fleeing the occupation of Armenia in Lachin.
Together with his cousin İmamverdi Beşirli, they collected warm quilts, mattresses, and blankets to support the aid campaign. Despite having a vehicle in poor condition, they were able to transport the aid to the collection point. İmamverdi said that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are friends and brothers, and it was their duty to support each other in times of need.
Server Beşirli was touched to learn that he and his efforts had become a “phenomenon” on social media and that people were praising his big heart. He said that not only did he and his cousins participate in the charity campaign, but all Azerbaijanis, both in Azerbaijan and abroad, supported the efforts in any way they could. He expressed his gratitude to those who supported Türkiye and said that the feeling of being supported like a brotherly state was indescribable.
