In Pakistan, supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan took to the streets of the capital, Islamabad, yesterday to demand Khan’s release. The crowd, who broke the ban on gathering in the capital, was immediately intervened by the police. The clashes continued despite the police’s use of tear gas bombs and more security forces were deployed to important areas in the region. Over 100 people, including Khan’s sisters Aleema Khanum and Uzma Khanum, were detained in the clashes.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was detained today for allegedly organizing protests in the capital despite the ban and is accused of abusing government resources and government-given powers.
