In Egypt’s Kafr El-Sheikh governorate, one of two cousins who were playing in front of their home was abducted by his father. Security camera footage shows the father arriving with a friend, getting out of the vehicle, and attempting to take the child. The child’s cousin tried with all his strength to stop the father, but the man eventually forced the child into the car and drove away. The cousin’s determined attempt to protect the younger child quickly spread on social media and became a nationwide topic.
In a statement, Egypt’s Ministry of Interior announced that the father and his accomplice had been apprehended and taken into custody. Authorities said the child’s parents are divorced, and during questioning the father confessed that he abducted the child due to a dispute with his ex-wife. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved.
