A convention establishing an International Compensation Commission to address war damage in Ukraine was signed in The Hague, the Netherlands, with the support of more than 30 countries. Backed by the Council of Europe, the body will examine compensation claims for losses caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and forms part of a broader mechanism that includes a damage registry and a future compensation fund.
