Iran has been accepted as a full member of the organization at the 21st Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Iran had observer status until now in the organization. The development was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on his Twitter account. He said that this strategic membership had a significant impact on Iran’s comprehensive cooperation process in line with its neighborly and Asia-oriented policy.
