The 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, hosted by India, resulted in Iran being granted full membership to the organization. Russian President Putin highlighted Iran’s successful membership process and expressed support for Belarus’s accession. Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev emphasized the need for economic projects under the SCO’s auspices, while Uzbekistan’s President Mirziyoyev stressed constructive dialogue and mutual respect. Chinese President Xi called for practical cooperation and peace in the region. The summit concluded with the acceptance of the New Delhi declaration and decisions on combating terrorism, digital transformation, and decarbonization.

The city has been decorated with TDT flags ahead of the summit, which will take place at the historic Varkert Bazar near the Danube.
Leaders from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary are expected to attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also hold bilateral talks during his visit.
The summit will focus on deepening strategic cooperation among Turkic states, with discussions on economic ties, security, and cultural heritage. The event will conclude with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
