A funeral ceremony commenced in Tabriz for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials who died in a helicopter crash. The three-day funeral for President Raisi began, honoring him alongside East Azerbaijan Governor Malik Rahmati, Tabriz Friday Imam Ayatollah Ali Hashim, bodyguard Seyed Mehdi Musevi, pilots Tahir Mustafavi and Mohsen Deryanush, and technician Behruz Gadimi. Tens of thousands of Iranians participated, holding posters of the late President as the procession moved through the city.
The funeral program details were announced: after Tabriz, the bodies will be transported to Qom at 16:00 local time today for another ceremony. Later, they will be taken to Tehran by 21:00. The funeral in Tehran is scheduled for 07:30 tomorrow, followed by a final ceremony in Mashhad at 08:00 on Thursday, where President Raisi will be laid to rest.
