Iran has started conducting a military drill called Khyber Conquerors near the Azerbaijani border. Iranian army ground forces, attack helicopters and UAV’s are participating in the drill. It is reportedly the largest military drill that Iran has carried out this year.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev criticized the timing of the military drill, addressing that Iran sent troops near Azerbaijani borders after Azerbaijan claimed victory in Karabakh against Armenia.

Kioumars Heydari, Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces stated that the exercise does not pose a threat to any country. “We do not have territorial design on neighboring countries, but we will not tolerate the presence of the Israeli regime and ISIS terrorists on our borders” he said.
