A fire ignited by a gas stove at a drug rehabilitation center in Lengerud, Iran, killing 32 people and injuring 16 others. The director of the center has been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation. Gilan State Chief Prosecutor Sadik Niyarki assured that those found negligent or culpable will face appropriate consequences. Deputy Governor of Gilan Province, Muhammad Jalayi, explained that the fire began when a gas stove ignited, spreading to the room’s curtains, and the tragedy was exacerbated by the morning hour, catching those inside unaware and causing a stampede.
