Iran has released the first photograph of the Interim Leadership Council formed after the reported death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The council met as part of the constitutional process to oversee leadership duties until a new Supreme Leader is elected.
The meeting was attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian, Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, and Guardian Council member Ali Reza Arafi. Under Article 111 of Iran’s Constitution, the Assembly of Experts must elect a new leader, while the interim council temporarily assumes the leader’s powers.
