Mosul International Airport in Iraq, heavily damaged during the 2014 ISIS occupation, has reopened after 11 years. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani officially inaugurated the renovated airport, announcing it will be fully operational within two months.
The main runway was extended to 3,000 meters to handle large aircraft. The airport, once used as an ISIS base, now aims to boost Nineveh province’s economy with a projected capacity of 630,000 passengers and 30,000 tons of cargo annually.
