The women’s national basketball team of Ireland, who has shown their support for the Palestinians, refused to shake hands with the Israeli opponents during the pre-match ceremony of a EuroBasket 2025 competition held in the Irish capital to protest attacks in Palestinian regions.
The Irish Basketball Federation stated before the match that the players would not participate in the pre-match arrangements and said, “This includes official handshakes before or after the match and our players lining up next to our bench instead of midfield for the Irish national anthem.”
