Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Iranian Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib was killed in overnight strikes on Tehran, Iran. Speaking during a security briefing, Katz said the Israeli army targeted the minister and described the operation as part of escalating attacks.
Katz also said Israeli forces have been authorized to target high-ranking Iranian officials without further approval. Iran has not yet issued a statement confirming the fate of Khatib.
