The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that Mohammed Deif, the leader of Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, was killed in an attack in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, Gaza, on July 13.
No statement in response to Israel’s confirmation has been made by Hamas.
Previously, Hamas Political Bureau Member Khalil al-Hayya denied Israel’s claim that Deif was targeted and addressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, “Deif was not killed; he is mocking your statements.”
