The Israel Defense Forces reported that they carried out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip in response to the rockets fired into southern Israel. Palestinian security sources said that Israel targeted the areas of Al Safeena, Jabaliye and Al-Baydar in the northwest of Gaza. It is not yet known whether there were any casualties or injuries.
Tensions between Israel and Palestine rose again after Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan, who has been on hunger strike for 86 days, died in the Israeli prison. Thirty-seven rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip to the south of Israel, injuring twelve people.
