The Israeli army disputed the identity of one of four bodies returned by Hamas under the Gaza ceasefire deal, stating it did not belong to hostage Shiri Bibas. The bodies of Bibas’ two children and 83-year-old Oded Lifshitz were confirmed, but the unidentified body did not match any known hostages.
Israel accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire and demanded the return of Bibas and all remaining hostages. Hamas previously claimed the Bibas family was killed in an Israeli airstrike in November 2023. The children’s father, Yarden Bibas, was released on February 1. Hamas has yet to respond to Israel’s claim.
