A person was beaten to death in a brawl between fans of Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Greek team Olympiacos before a match played for the European Conference League in Athens, the capital of Greece. The casualty, stated to have been of Arab origin, was shouting “Free Palestine,” said Greek media. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Andriy Portnov, former aide to ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in Madrid’s upscale Pozuelo de Alarcon district. Spanish authorities say unidentified gunmen opened fire as the 52-year-old was dropping off his children at school, striking him in the back and head before fleeing.
Portnov, a former MP and lawyer, fled Ukraine with Yanukovych in 2014, briefly returned in 2019, and was later sanctioned by the U.S. for alleged judicial corruption.
