In a recent crackdown on smuggling operations, Istanbul police seized 565 exotic animals, including baby crocodiles, monkeys, and snakes, whose trade is banned. The operation resulted in the arrest of 36 suspects involved in illegal animal trade. The police, collaborating with financial authorities, traced illicit proceeds and carried out raids across 15 provinces, recovering animal-related items and a firearm. While 27 suspects were released pending trial, the remaining 9 are undergoing processing and are expected to face charges soon.
