New variant of coronavirus (COVID-19) named Omicron, which first appeared in South Africa and spreading rapidly, forced countries to take new measures. On Tuesday, Italian government approved the new legislation that anticipates extending COVID-19 state of emergency to March 31 2022 as part of fight against COVID-19. With the approval of new legislation, state of emergency that should end December 31 remain in force 3 more months by government’s decision. Within the state of emergency decision, COVID-19 regulations that already established will be continue to carry out in Christmas and New Year holidays. The requirement to use Green Pass certificate that containing the recovery and COVID-19 vaccination information or test results will continue in public places such as restaurants, bars, cinemas, gyms, night clubs and stadiums. Within this scope, requirement to submit negative COVID-19 test will continue for unvaccinated people to enter designated areas or to use public transportation. While being recorded more than 20.000 daily COVID -19 cases, Italy has registered total of 5.282.076 cases and registered total of 135.178 deaths from beginning of COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite ongoing Israeli attacks, children in Gaza’s Maghazi Refugee Camp celebrated Eid al-Adha with a special event organized by a Turkish aid group. The celebration offered a brief escape, with songs and games for the children.
