Typhoon Kajiki, which struck Vietnam on August 25, has killed 7 people in the country and 1 in Thailand. Authorities reported that 1.6 million people, mostly in Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces, were left without electricity after power lines were knocked down.
In Vietnam, more than 10,000 homes and offices and 86 hectares of rice fields were submerged, while Hanoi’s streets were heavily flooded. Meteorological officials warned of continued heavy rainfall, raising risks of flooding and landslides.
In Thailand, severe flooding hit eight provinces, affecting 180 families and leaving one person dead.
