Japan Battles Ongoing Forest Fires

Forest fires in Japan’s Ehime and Okayama prefectures have been burning for four days, destroying 779 hectares. A new fire has also erupted in Miyazaki, prompting evacuation warnings for over 8,100 people. Firefighting efforts continue with reinforcements from multiple prefectures and the Japan Self-Defense Forces.

Meanwhile, a fire in Iwate Prefecture last month killed one person, damaged 171 buildings, and burned 2,900 hectares before being controlled in 12 days. Authorities remain on high alert as wildfires spread across the country.
