Japan is marking the 79th anniversary of the Battle of Okinawa, which took place between United States and Japan during World War II. To pay respect to the victims of the war, people of Okinawa visited the Cornerstone of Peace in Itoman, Okinawa.
Japan recorded over 100,000 casualties, while US recorded around 80,000.
