Heavy rains caused flash floods across Japan, particularly in the Shizuoka province, and the city of Hamamatsu in the country. Water levels in the rivers have reached critical levels, authorities said. Evacuation warning was issued for 408,933 people living in 172,698 households in risky areas.
Rail operator JR has announced that services between Kakegawa Station and Hamamatsu Station on the Tokaido high-speed rail line will be temporarily suspended as of 14:00 local time.
