After announcing his country’s goals for the term presidency of the European Union (EU) at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, French President Emmanuel Macron held a press conference with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola. The journalists’ reaction was sparked by the fact that Macron and Metsola did not receive any questions after the press conference. Many journalists left the room after it was announced that Macron and Metsola would not answer questions from the press. Mehreen Khan, a reporter for the Financial Times, also used her social media account to post photos of journalists leaving the hall.
Macron gave a 4-minute summary of his 5-hour plenary speech in the European Parliament at the press conference.

Mayor Karen Bass blamed “marginal groups” for the violence, stating, “This has nothing to do with real immigrant rights protests.” She urged the Trump administration to halt immigration operations, calling them a source of fear and chaos.
