The New York Turkish American Art Society (TAASNY) hosted a Karagöz and Hacivat shadow play for Turkish and American children in New York, USA. This traditional Turkish cultural event, organized annually by TAASNY, was held at a school affiliated with the New York Turkish American Community Center (NYTAC) in Long Island. The show, which brings historical and traditional stories to life through shadow play, aims to promote Turkish culture in the USA. TAASNY President İbrahim Yazıcı highlighted the deep-rooted history of Karagöz and Hacivat, dating back 700 years, as a unique aspect of Ottoman heritage. NYTAC President Erol Akyürek expressed joy in observing children’s enthusiasm for the event and pledged to continue bringing such cultural experiences to children.
