Nationwide protests have started against the Kenyan government by citizens over the high cost of living and new tax increases. The demonstrations were called by the opposition coalition, Azimio.
“Reports say that up to 23 people have been killed and dozens injured in the demonstrations in the past week,” said UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Jeremy Laurence.
