Minister of Culture and Tourism Nuri Ersoy has published a list of Turkish wooden-pillared mosques deserving inclusion in UNESCO’s permanent list of world cultural heritage. One of the mosques added to UNESCO’s list is the 7th-century-old Eşrefoğlu Mosque, situated in Konya’s Beyşehir district. Local residents who discovered that the Eşrefoğlu Mosque in their city had been included in the statement expressed their honor.
“We need to enhance this place further. In this regard, we have numerous responsibilities. Many people from abroad will come to visit the mosque. We aim to address all necessary improvements here as soon as possible,” said Mustafa Büyükkafalı, President of the Beyşehir Culture and Tourism Association.
