A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil, has left 10 people dead, including an 8-year-old child, and one person missing.

Governor Romeu Zema expressed solidarity with the victims, stating, “I stand with the families affected by this tragedy” and pledged support for rescue and relief efforts. Public spaces have been offered to aid the response.

Brazil has faced severe weather challenges, with last year’s record floods claiming over 180 lives in the country’s south. Rescue operations in Ipatinga are ongoing.
