The death toll from a landslide in Cibeunying village in Cilacap, Central Java, has risen to 16, Indonesian disaster officials said. Twelve homes were buried under 3–8 meters of debris, and at least 16 people remain missing as rescue teams continue excavation efforts.
In a separate landslide in Banjarnegara, two people were killed and 27 are missing. Authorities warn that ongoing monsoon rains, expected to last until April, will continue to heighten the risk of flooding and landslides.
